I'm looking to purchase a dining room set, and i found a used one for $400 but idk if that's too much for it..
It's cherry with 6 chairs that have white seats. I'll try to add a pick soon.. Is $400 a fair deal or a rip off?

No. That's a decent price. Unless of course, the tabletop isn't wood but rather mdf with a wood veneer top. How to tell? You can tell by opening up the middle of the table and looking to see if there are 2 layers to the tabletop, with the top one being very thin. It's always a good idea to ask for the original receipt.
If the table and chairs are real wood, then you'll see the manufacturer's name stamped on the wood, usually under the tabletop and under each chair.
Does the table have an extension?

I recently purchased a mahogany dining set made by Irwin Co. The seller stated that he believed that it was made in the 1920's. I have found some information about Robert W Irwin and his company online, but am looking for more information. My set includes a table with 6 chairs, a desk, a hutch and a very large buffet. If you know anything about Irwin Co, value of their furniture, or any resources that would be helpful, please let me know. I appreciate your help! :) Thanks!
