Ancient Greek Pottery
The ancient Greeks were very interested in arts and recreation. Pottery is really important to visual art. The ancient Greeks valued pottery.
Pottery was made for different reasons. Undecorated pottery was used for kitchen and storage purposes. Ceramics were also used for cooking,water supplies,table purposes and feeding bottles. Two handled pots was used for food and liquid. More early corinthian (pottery) was used for household purposes. More fancy pottery was used to decorate sitting rooms as well as other places.
There where many artists and potters who made and decorated Amphamora. There was Aplles, who was the official sculptor of Alexander the great, who was a king. Some other names of ancient Greek artists were Polygnotus,Lesth,Mikon and Zeuxis. These potters used different kind of styles. The severe style which was from 530 B.C.E to 380 B.C.E .The Free Style was used from 480 B.C.E to 380 B.C.E.
Ceramics featured many different colors and ways of decorating . They painted slip on everything but the figure. Slip is potter's clay that is thinned and used for coating or decorating ceramics. The figure is the main design of the amphamora. The red figure and black figure was very popular on pottery. It involved painting the back round black and the figures red(as seen in image one ). Same as black figure except the figures were black and the background was red. The red and black figure technique was both used for small and ordinary scenes from everyday life. They decorated by painting and writing on the pottery. Pottery was painted with a naturalistic theme which means that they used a lot of nature scenes on it the ceramics. They had geometric vases meaning the designs were circles,ovals,lines ect. repeating in a mathematical way. They used colors like yellow,red,purple,black and white.
The designs were very detailed and specific. They used a palmette honeysuckle pattern which is palm and honey suckle leaves arranged in a rotating cluster. They had decorated borders, frezzies with overlapping circles crossed by straight lines. Some patterns were bead,drop and scroll. The scroll pattern was a ribbon like theme in shape or a scroll. They had harmonious proportions which means that they blend really well together. They painted animals in continuous bands. Animals like panthers,lions ,goats,deer and large birds.
The figures on the pottery helped portray the scenes that were painted on the pottery. Kings and warriors were carved into the pottery. Gods,Goddesses and human beings where also on the pottery. Orpheus, a superhero was very popular on Greek pottery , as well as other super heroes.
Greek pottery was made at different times. At Around 11,00 B.C.E people around the world were making pottery. The ancient Greeks caught on to this and started it during the new stone age . During the Hellenistic period pottery wasn't as popular. The times potter was popular was 530 B.C.E to 480 B.C.E and from 480 B.C.E to 330 B.C.E.

What do you do to make sure you're always ready for unexpected house guests?

Like what do you keep on hands? What about kitchen staples for breakfast (non refridgerated)? I had a mini disaster last night to this morning. I live together with a guy who's rarely home, never cooks at home and never does any housework. Yesterday, I came home at 7 after almost 12 hours away (and ready to do more freelance work for couple of hours) to find that I'm supposed to play hostess to 3 unexpected guests. While the guests are shown around the place, I scrambled to make the guest rooms ready, make sure there are clean towels, sheets and clean the carpet so the guests don't have feel like they're subjected to bed down in a pig sty. My kitchen isn't that well stocked either due to recent move (threw away lots of old stuff) and because I'm the only one who eats at home really so I want to make sure that they get a decent breakfast instead of some dinner rolls he insists that they should eat after I'm already gone for work! (I don't really eat cereals since it's too sickly sweet). Please suggest something that's long lasting that I should keep on hand. Unexpected or expected, I HATE being made to feel like a bad hostess.

It sounds like your roommate depends on you to drop everything at a moment's notice and cater to friends without any consideration to what you may be doing in your life at the time...sounds a bit rude.
But seeing as how others have answered the food dilemma...as far as the bed linens...get some of those "Space Bags" and put clean sheets, blanket, comforter, pillow, etc and seal them flat. When guests show up>>voila! fresh clean linens without dust to make the bed up with. If I were you, I'd put those mattress protector covers on the beds, too.
Then get small baskets (with handles) and travel samples of products that you think they would use and include a rolled towel and washcloth in it. (They also have plastic versions as college kids use them for carrying their items down to bathroom). Include a new packaged toothbrush (can even get cheap ones...you're not out to provide them with expensive things)....go to dollar stores. Stores even have soap carriers and bars of popular soaps in single bars for giving to guests so each has their own to keep in their "basket". Provide travel size bottles of mouthwash, too....even have deodorant to get. Maybe disposable razors? Keep basket covered in a plastic bag to pull out when needed. When guest leaves, they can take their products with them (except linens) and then all you'd have to do is replace the products---but make sure your roommate pays!!!
I'd also put up some over-the-door hangers or hooks for guests to hang up their wet towels or their clothing in each room.....check Walmart for low-priced items like that.
I've even seen where hosts provide those "stretchy socks" for people to wear when they enter their homes to keep feet covered if need be.
Provide coasters for night table if you need them for guests to set bottle of water on to catch condensation.....a table can be one of those wooden folding "snack tables" seen in Family Dollar stores for $10 each (or maybe you run across some at a garage sale). Also taking an old luggage stand and using a large tray on it creates a night table.
FYI...if keeping pancake mix on hand...be sure NOT to use it past expiration date.
You can keep frozen cans of juice in freezer (and always have ice cubes).
Can keep bags of frozen fruits to use in pancakes....also having a bag of chocolate chips for this purpose.....a bottle of syrup.
Nutella for toast....can have frozen bagels on hand......(cream cheese will go moldy and can expire if kept too long)...but if you use it on a regular basis--.
Frozen breakfast sausage links that pop into microwave are good to have as well....
Check to see about that egg batter in a carton (can you freeze it? not sure as I never use it)...can always defrost overnight if able to freeze for morning use.....smaller sizes will defrost faster.
