How do you reupholster a dining chair with a back cushion?

i need to reupholster the chairs in my dining set but none of the websites i've visited say how to reupholster the back part of the chair, which has a cushion as well. how do i do this?

The back has a top wooden support, a three inch gap, the cushion and another wooden support at the base of the cushion, about 4 inches up from the seat. The back cushion is sewn around a slat of wood (about 8 inches tall) and the fabric edges are hidden by the side "rails" on the chair.

I think I will have to take apart the entire chair to do this, but want to avoid that if at all possible.

Just wrap the back cushion with the material of your choice with 3/4" fold all round.
Stick them to position with glue, use the needle (45 deg.angled) and thread to fasten them.
It is crazy to take apart a chair just to re-upholstery it.

I would like to know if anyone knows of a good web site with instructions and pictures of how to cover a chair cushion with your owne fabric. I tried looking and havent found what i need. see this is for my mom because shes not listening to my instructions since i know how to do this task. she cut her own cloth with out a ruler, didnt measure what she needed to cut and is using small screws to attach the fabric and the back of a screwdriver to tap them in. i told her she needed a staple gun but shes ignorant and wont listen and i even tried to show her but she doesnt care. The fabric is all bunched up in the corners and looks like its gonna fall off. i need to show her easy instructions with pictures so then maybe she would listen to that inteasd of not listening to me.

If she might like to do more, she can look for an upholstery class at a tech school. That's what my mom did and she had a great time with all the other ladies too.
