Which Disney World Resort - Coronado Springs or Animal Kingdom?

Jennifer H

We are taking a family vacation to Disney World the Christmas. It will be me, my husband, my mother-in-law, and two children (ages 4 and 17 months). We are staying 6 days/5nights. The adults have all been to DW, so this trip will be mostly for the kids. We are trying to be budget friendly, but at the same time â I know that you get what you pay for. Although we donât âplanâ to stay in the hotel a lot, I know that with little ones it will be necessary to come back for naps, breaks, and prob some fun.

So to the point -Please compare the Coronado and the Animal Kingdom Resorts on the following points:
I have looked at Disney Worldâs website. I am looking for information by experience â good and bad.

1. Buses â how long does it take to get to each park and do you spend forever picking up people from other places? Also, do you have to walk forever to get to and from the assigned bus once at the park?

2. Rooms â are they roomy? Comfortable?

3. Food â good? Kid friendly? Close to rooms?

4. Other perks?

5. Is the Animal Kingdom Resort REALLY worth the extra money? Donât get me wrong⦠animals off the balcony sound AMAZING, but is that the only perk?

Additional: Does anyone have any additional tips to make the trip special for the little ones?

Thank you for taking the time to make our Disney World experience special!

Answer
1: Animal Kingdom does tend to be a bit further away but they only make one extra stop at their other lodge. From there they go straight to the parks. Personally I would NOT make a decision of this calibur based off bus times. The only time I would factor a bus trip in is if you were staying at the Value resorts and trying to pick which one as pop has its own bus. As far as how far of a walk, not far at all as both have the stops rather close to the main enterance. Where your walk is going to be is between your room and the main enterance of the resort. That of course depends on what type of room you want.

2: All are amzing. Where you will have your difference is in the type of room, of which also includes a price difference. For example you can get a standard room (crappy view), pool view, or savannah view at animal kingdom. Rooms are almost the same (some of the standards have bunk beds for kids) but your main difference is in the view. Same for Coronado. I would pull up both online and look at what the different rooms offer and their views. All room types are listed and describled on Disney.com.

3: Great. There are snacks and breakfast foods in the resort gift shop if you want to keep a half gallon of milk and ceral in your room and there are also resort dining places. For example animal kingdom has two nice sit down places and more of a food court palce that you can get drinks, snacks, breakfast, pizza, etc. Very kid friendly and very close to the pool (comes in handy with the free refill mug while you are at the pool)

4: There are far too many to mention. Both have great activites for both kids and adults. For example Animal Kingdom has night vision goggle tours for all ages at night. Both of course also have a spa and gym for the adults. All the other perks you would get at any resort such as the free refill mugs (lasts your entire trip and is free refills at the resort, great for morning or late night drink or to keep you going while at the pool) and Magic Hours.

5: If you and or your kids love animals then YES. We constantly had giraffe and zebra right outside our window. Even if you cannot afford a room that looks out over the animals there are places all over the resort where you can plop down in a chair or rocker and watch the animals. Personally I love the indoor and outdoor fire pits. One of the hot tubs is right next to the flamingos too. If you are a fan of animals but not a huge one you could always just spend your animal time at the park and not the resort.

I think you really need to sit down and look over what each resort has to offer as well as the views and prices of the different rooms.

I would also HIGHLY suggest the meal plan. It saves a poop load of money and is a great way to afford the nice sit down meals. They also offer a bunch of character meals which I am sure your kids would love. They come around to your table for photos and autographs. We save a few hundred within a span of about a week when we go. It is also very flexible and you can use the credits in any order and for whomever you want. For example if grandma does not want her snacks then that leaves extra snacks for the kids. Also know that snacks are more or less anything you want under $8... pizza, milkshake, fudge, apple, ice cream, whatever. And the meals and snacks can be used at your resort too. Make reservations ASAP though as some places fill up fast. We had to book Coral Reef a little more than a month in advance and we got the last seat for dinner that night. There is no fee to book, change or cancel. Most of the places also have a menu online so you know what your options are. Epcot by far has the best places! Also be sure to check out dining at the resorts too as meal plans work there too.

If you stay with Disney they will also take your gifts back to your resort for you if you do not want to carry them around the park. It is also a great way to sneek back a birthday or christmas gift for the kids. You just tell them at checkout that you want it sent back to your resort and its free. They will ship it home for you but there is a fee for that.

The art shops are a great place for gifts too. The kids or you guys can pick out a drawing from a book of characters and they will draw it for you in the color you want. They will also add any names or dates. Most of them cost about $35. My husband and I got one with our names and anniv date on it one year.

If you can afford it I would also highly suggest the park hopper pass as it will give you far more time and options to play.

If you have other questions please email me and have a great time!

k heres something funny to me hope it helpGood Jokes Based on Clever Use of Language:
1) A linguistics professor was lecturing his class one day.

'In English', he said, 'A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative.'

A loud voice from the back of the room piped up, 'Yeah, right.'

2) Robert went to his lawyer and said, 'I would like to make a will but I don't know exactly how to go about it.' The lawyer smiled at Robert and replied, 'Not a problem, leave it all to me.'

Robert looked somewhat upset and said, 'Well, I knew you were going to take a big portion, but I would like to leave a little to my family too!'

3) A policeman spotted a jay walker and decided to challenge him, 'Why are you trying to cross here when there's a zebra crossing only 20 metres away?'

'Well,' replied the jay walker, 'I hope it's having better luck than me.'

4) Two lawyers arrive at the pub and ordered a couple of drinks. They then take sandwiches from their briefcases and began to eat.

Seeing this, the angry publican approaches them and says, 'Excuse me, but you cannot eat your own sandwiches in here!'

The two look at each other, shrug and exchange sandwiches.

5) Brenda and Terry are going out for the evening. The last thing they do is put their cat out.

The taxi arrives, and as the couple walk out of the house, the cat scoots back in.

Terry returns inside to chase it out. Brenda, not wanting it known that the house would be empty, explains to the taxi driver, 'My husband is just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother.'

Several minutes later, an exhausted Terry arrives and climbs back into the taxi saying, 'Sorry I took so long, the stupid idiot was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her with a coat hanger several times before I could get her to come out!'

A Good Joke About a Husband
A man and a woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant. Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the woman acting unconcerned.

The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight under the table. Still, the woman dining across from him appeared calm and unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had disappeared.

After the waitress finished taking the order, she came over to the table and said to the woman, 'Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband just slid under the table.'

The woman calmly looked up at her and replied firmly, 'No he didn't. He just walked in the door.'
