We're looking for a place that isn't too expensive with admission or drink prices. We would prefer a pub atmosphere to a club scene... if anyone knows any good places, let me know

Since you are asking this in Dining out, first here are pubs with food:
Lefty O'Douls on Geary at Powell. Not upscale but always interesting. This is the strangest combo of hoffbrau, sports bar, and piano bar known to man. The food while not exotic is substantial and flavorful. A favorite of locals and tourists.
Beach Chalet at the west end of Golden Gate Park, House brewed beers, full bar, ok food and incredible views of the sunset over the pacific or opt for the Park side and enjoy drinks in the open room with fireplace or the Adirondack chairs on the lawn.
Tommy's Joint on Van Ness at Geary an old style SF houfbrau, they serve such unique dishes as buffalo chili over rice and the meatball sandwich is the bomb. The pictures of San Francisco all over the walls are a history lesson. Nothing fancy but filling and welcoming.

Triva Night, live music or listen to poetry on the once a year Robert Burns night at Edinburgh Castle. Drink a pint or six and then soak up the booze with some Fish & Chips brought in from Old chelsea fish and chips. A bit of Scotland in SF!

Cheap drinks and a hot dog with a bunch of great folks who work in the neighborhood at Dave's on Third and Market. Too old school to have a website
In the lower Haight; Mad Dog in the Fog, Danny Coyles; noc noc, or Tornado
The Abby Tavern on Geary at 6th
Chieftan at Howard and 5th
Gino and Carlos or the Columbus Cafe on Green near Columbus in North Beach. Other North Beach Favorites The Saloon on Grant at Columus the oldest bar in the city and the best blues bar in The City; Grant and Green at that intercetion also has live music.
And 3 places that aren't pubs but you might enjoy.
Annie's Social Club Dance floor in the front, Karaoke in the back and a photo booth and pool table...what's not to like?
Wild Side West 424 Cortland. Out of the way, but a unique neighborhood bar with a steep backyard that has been turned into a fantastical garden with sculpture and furniture and fire pits.
Or for something completely different how about a modern day speakeasy? Creative drinks in a slice of Americana lounge, with a secret room Live a little, make a reservation
