Step 1 If you have a swing set in your yard your kids have out grown you already have everything you need except the chair. Well you might have that too.
A lot of people have those dining sets that had what is called the captains chair. All the chairs were regular chairs except the ones that were at each end of the table that had arms. You can find one at a thrift store or a yard or garage sale. Or even see if you can swap something with a neighbor for one they don't want anymore, so you don't use one of your matching chairs.
Step2 Cut the legs off the chair flush with the bottom of the chair. Then cut a hole large enough to put the chain through the seat at each corner of the seat. You can secure the chain by putting a large nut and bolt through the last chain link that is sticking out the bottom of the chair.
Step 3 If you have the swing set you just hang the chains on the S hooks on the frame and sit and relax. Otherwise you have to buy large S hooks from the hardware store. Or you can buy large nuts and bolts that fit through the chains and get help if you need it to put the chains over the branch and secure them to the links using the nuts and bolts. These are not swings for swinging "big", just for gently swinging like you would in a porch swing. You can attach these to a beam on your porch if you have one.
