How do you keep your chair leg pads on so they don't scrape your oak floors?

I am constantly reapplying round sticky chair pads to my dining room chairs. The don't stick on because they rub off on the rug, but I need them for the back legs that hit the oak floor. I have yet to find anything that works. Does anyone out there have a suggestion? I can't afford to buy a bigger rug.

They make a pad that has a tack in it to go on the bottom of the legs and there is no gluing.I got mine at a store called wood you.

can i make my regular dining room chair into a parsons chair?

i have a dining room table and chair set that was my mothers, and i don't want to get rid of it. however, the chairs are starting to look terrible! the chairs are rounded at the top somewhat and i am having a hard time finding a slipcover that would look good. the set is rather traditional, and i think parsons chairs would look really good with it. however, they are expensive! so i have been thinking that i could add some padding and try to change the look. i was just wandering if anyone has ever tried to give an ordinary chair the parson look. any tips? thank you!

a good upholsterer could give you what you want.... or if you're handy, you could add a frame that would square off the top , then pad that and cover as you like it..... if you plan to keep the set for a good length of time, I'd invest in having the chairs done by the professional., tho....
