Each play kitchen set I measure is a little small. The refrigerators are usually 30-36 inches high. I'm thinking that by the time my kids are 4 that they will be much taller than the fridge.
What age do kids stop playing with kitchen sets?

my kids used it frequently until they were around 5, and still used it occasionally until around 7 (even older if they were playing with a younger sibling).

I bought this kitchen set for my little boy. When I brought it home my husband said that I should have gotten him a train set instead which he would love. I already have a nice thomas the tank engine set in mind to purchase. The wooden stove is 19 X 15 X 28 height and comes with pots and pans. I know of a mom parent who has a three year old boy who plays with plastic coffee sets and other kitchen cooking play stuff.

My boys are 4 & 5. They will soon be 5 & 6 and they have a toy kitchen, baby doll, stroller set and other "girl" toys. They also have loads of cars, trucks, dinosaurs and "boy" toys. They are just toys. It's no big deal.
Men have to take care of kids, clean house and cook because a lot of women work now. It's not like it used to be when the woman had to stay home and take care of the house and kids while the man worked. Times have changed. Your husband is just being old fashioned.
Edit: I don't see why it would matter if it was pink and frilly. That's no different than saying that a girl can't play with a toy because it's blue, that a girl can't play with cars or that a boy shouldn't play with a kitchen or baby doll.
