I bought a dining set out of the penny-saver several years ago but it only came with 4 chairs. It hasn't been a problem because I didn't like to entertain before but now I do and I can't find any chairs to match the existing ones. It's cherry wood and traditional looking and I'm planning on going with the country theme in the room when I paint it. We also always leave the leaf in it (the table is 7 X 3.5 '). Painting it is not an option. And neither is buying a brand new dining set.

This sounds exactly like me a year ago. I also purchased a dining room table that only came with 4 chairs, but there are 5 of us so i knew i would have a problem, but bought it anyway. When coming up with your "country theme" colors you can always purchase two extra chairs, inexpensive straight backs and paint them and leave them against the walls when not entertaining. I also have a country home, and chose colors in the "red" family. When i completed the painting of the room, I picked the darkest color i had used, and went about 4 shades even darker to paint the chairs. They turned out beautiful, that people ask me where i got such a great dining room set.

What to do with large furniture when moving out of Canada?
Q. We are leaving the country and moving back to Japan next month and have several large furniture we can not take with us. These are 4 beds, 3 peice sofa set, 4 piece coffee table (surface made of glass) and dining table set (1 table & 6 chairs). We had a moving sale and none of these sold. We also put the dining table set up on kijiji and got 3 spam-looking suspicious replies. We also contacted good will store and furniture dealer and we're waiting for their replies. Anything else we can do?

You can try taking your furniture to a resell store specializing in furniture. You consign your furniture. The problem is that they want you to take back the items that don't sell. This is also your expense-to reclaim your furniture.
Then you can donate your furniture items to family and friends in the area.
Last option, one that you would hate, is to donate your furniture to a charity, such as Goodwill.
Also should be able to donate your furniture to a Hospice company that knows a family in need. You may think that donation is terrible since you have good furniture that has value. Well, you need to materialize that idea buyer sooner than you have time for. You do get a tax deduction. That may be the best you can find. At least it's better than setting your stuff on the curb.
